North Irish Lodge / Diver have been established since 1998, when we first opened as luxury holiday cottages and a Scuba Dive Resort in Islandmagee. Over our 16 years of trading the business has won many awards for excellence and is renowned for the personal professional service it offers to guests and customers alike.

'The Gobbins'. The name has its origins in the Gaelic 'An Gobain' and translates to 'the points of rock'. The original “Gobbins Cliff Path” with its many bridges and tunnels was constructed by the Railway Company and opened in 1902. The Cliff Path, cut into the rock and comprised of suspended walkways, bridges, tunnels & caves. It was a major feat of engineering, and more popular than the Giant's Causeway, before falling into disrepair in the 1950’s.

The new “GOBBINS CLIFF PATH” with 20 bridges including the famous Tubular Bridge & Suspension Bridges & Tunnel has now been reinstated (open 2015) at a cost of over £6m.

The new “GOBBINS CLIFF PATH EXPERIENCE” is something not to be missed when visiting N. Ireland and is only 30 minutes from Belfast.

If you are not up to the long walk and the hundreds of steps on the Cliff Path the most popular, convenient and relaxing way to see the entire Gobbins Cliff Path is by Boat on board our Fast Passenger RIB “North Irish Diver” 

This 1 x Hour Trip from Ballylumford Harbour will whisk you at 30 Knots along the spectacular Islandmagee coastline past Portmuck Island (“Hot Spot” for Porpoise & Seals) to experience the Gobbins Cliffs & Cliff Path close up where you can wave to and photograph friends on the Path.
